How long did you take it before you started to see it helping the tingling?
A few people feel it in days. Most notice the first change in weeks three to six: the burning at bedtime starts later and fades sooner. The studies ran 12 weeks, so judge it at the end of the third bottle, not the first week. If 30 days go by and you feel nothing, every cent comes back.
What if it does nothing for me, like the last bottle?
The last bottle was almost certainly 100, 200 or 300 mg with no benfotiamine. Lower doses of alpha-lipoic acid do not seem to work. Two of these capsules give you the 600 mg the studies used, plus 150 mg of benfotiamine. If that still does nothing for you in 30 days, send us a message for a full refund.
Can I take it with metformin or my other meds?
Most customers take it alongside metformin. Metformin lowers B12, which is one reason the 500 mcg of methyl B12 is in here. Alpha-lipoic acid can lower blood sugar. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, take it with a meal and check your meter more often the first two weeks. If you take thyroid medicine, take this a couple of hours apart from it, and show your doctor the bottle.
Is it R-ALA or the regular kind? My last bottle had neither on it.
It is regular alpha-lipoic acid, the 50/50 kind, at 600 mg a day. That is the form and the amount used in the nerve studies. The R-only bottles cost two to four times more, and many people who switched found them no better. The form and the milligrams are on the label.
I read people have had hair loss on ALA. Is that true?
Some people report it, usually at 1,200 mg or more. ALA uses up biotin, and that is the usual cause. The fix customers already use is a biotin tablet taken at a different time of day from the capsules. At 600 mg with food, almost nobody reports it.
ALA gave me heartburn last time. Will this one?
Heartburn comes from taking it on an empty stomach, usually 600 mg at once. These are two capsules, one with breakfast and one with dinner, each with a full glass of water. If your stomach is sensitive, start with one capsule a day for the first three or four days, then go to two. Stay upright for an hour after.
Why does my urine smell?
That is the alpha-lipoic acid, and it is harmless. It is a sulfur smell, the same thing asparagus does, and it passes quickly. For most people it fades within a couple of weeks.
What is benfotiamine and why not regular B1?
Regular vitamin B1 dissolves in water and leaves in your urine within hours, so very little reaches the nerve. Benfotiamine is the fat-soluble kind. It crosses into nerve tissue and raises B1 levels there several times higher. The 150 mg here sits beside the full 600 mg of ALA, and the drugstore ALA bottles leave it out.
Is it the real thing?
Every bottle ships from our US warehouse, never through a marketplace seller. Every batch is checked by an independent lab for the ALA and benfotiamine amounts and for heavy metals, and the lot number on the bottle matches the certificate. If you ever doubt it is doing anything, skip it for three days. If your feet get worse, you have your answer.
What if it does not work for me?
You have 30 days from delivery. Finish the bottle, and if your nights are not quieter, send us a message and every cent comes back. Nothing to ship back.
